MCA HONOURS THREE WITH DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS BC
Mechanical Contractors Recognized for their Lifelong Contributions

BURNABY, B.C. - On April 19th, the Mechanical Contractors Association of British Columbia (MCABC) honoured three of its members with Distinguished Service Awards, recognizing their combined 120 years of mechanical contracting experience, and professional commitment to the BC Mechanical Contracting industry. The three honourees were:

• Wilf Scheuer, of Water Tiger/Pro Star Mechanical Technologies Ltd. (Victoria)
• Al Bartlett of Lake Mechanical Ltd. (Burnaby)
• Doug McConnell of Archie Johnstone Plumbing & Heating Ltd. (Nanaimo)

Wilf Scheuer has been active in the mechanical contracting industry for over 40 years, and has worked on water purification systems for NASA. Wilf is a past MCABC Vice President, Victoria Chapter Chair, and Director on the MCABC Board. Wilf is an avid outdoorsman and loves fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and boating.

Al Bartlett trained in his native New Zealand and previously worked in Australia and London, England before moving to Vancouver in 1970. Al is a past President of MCABC, and also served on the Marketing Committee and Education Task Group, among others. Al is passionate about sailing, and even completed a sailing trip across the Pacific Ocean.

Doug McConnell is a native of Ireland, and worked in Ireland, London, England, and the United States before settling in Nanaimo in 1973. He joined Archie Johnstone Plumbing & Heating in 1988 and became Vice President in 1996. Doug served as MCABC Vice President, beginning his term in 1994.

The MCA Distinguished Service Awards were held in conjunction with the BC Chapter of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating’s Pioneer’s Night, where three CIPH members were also recognized for their contributions to the mechanical industry.
