Ground temperatures do not fluctuate as much as air temperatures during the seasons. A geothermal heat pump uses the earth or water as an energy source instead of teh air and is capable of using less energy. A ground source heat pump system does not convert electricity into heat; rather it uses electricity to move thermal energy between your home and the ground. This process makes the geothermal system highly efficient and reduces greenhouse gas emissions and lowers your heating costs.

The heat source can be from the ocean, lake, river, or in-ground geothermal piping. A ground source heat pump can be used with forced air or radiant floor heating systems.
